Our Farms and Produce

Lobbs Farm Shop

The very best of Cornish and Westcountry meats and produce including our own home-reared, grass-fed beef & lamb and much, much more.

The Farm Shop

Our shop contains a wide range of produce – meat counter, cheese counter, deli counter, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, bread and cakes, soft drinks, local wines and beers, local preserves, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream, smoked fish, frozen goods (including our own pies and homemade dishes), store cupboard essentials and many other items. Cornwall boasts a fantastic variety of food and drink manufacturers, and wherever possible we stock products that have been made in Cornwall or the wider Westcountry.

The shop is open seven days a week, with the exception of January and February when we are closed on Sundays and Mondays. We are located next door to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and we have plentiful free parking adjacent to the shop. the shop is wheelchair and buggy friendly and our staff are always available to help and advise.

Our Produce

The farm shop is supplied by produce from our own three farms, which are adjacent to the shop and are run by the 3 Lobb brothers; Corran Farm (Terry Lobb), Lower Kestle Farm (Ian Lobb) and Higher Kestle Farm (Richard Lobb). Anything we don't produce ourselves is sourced from other local meat producers. We also grow a variety of seasonal vegetables, but again, if we don't produce it ourselves, we source as locally as possible.

Our Farm Assured British Beef & Lamb (FABBL) is fully traceable, having spent all their life on our farms. Under the FABBL Assurance Scheme we are inspected annually to ensure that we are rearing our livestock and growing our crops to the very highest standard.

Beef

Most of the beef we supply comes from animals born on our farm from our South Devon and Limousin suckler cows. All the feed eaten by these animals is grown on the farm. This is principally grass but supplemented by rolled barley,

The South Devon is the largest of the native British cattle breeds and is well known for its hardiness, adaptability, docile nature and the quality of its meat.

The health of our animals is of the highest standard and we ensure the animals have the five freedoms endorsed by the RSPCA: freedom from hunger, thirst, pain, fear and freedom of movement.

Lamb

We also raise Poll Dorset sheep, an all-white, medium-sized breed of sheep, prolific and able to breed out of season. This fact makes it a suitable breed for us to raise as it allows us to provide the farm shop with a steady supply of home bred and reared lamb and mutton all year around.

The lambs are born on the farm and are reared on grass and ewes milk, receiving only small amounts of homegrown supplementary feed. This traditional feeding system gives the meat the succulence and flavour which is lacking from animals reared under intensive production systems.

Seasonal Veg

We offer a great range of fresh vegetables – many of which we grow here on the farm. The vegetables are cut early each day and delivered to the farm shop. You can’t get fresher than that!

The vegetables that we grow include: Courgettes, Winter Squashes, Cauliflower, Romanesco, Cabbage, Curly Kale, Cavolo Nero (Black Kale), Kalettes, Leeks, Swede, Red Cabbage, Celeriac, Sprouts, Broccoli, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Lettuce, Chard, Beetroot, Runner Beans, Spinach & Parsley.
