Water crackers' originated in Massachusetts at the start of the 19th century as simple biscuits made of flour and water that would not deteriorate during long sea voyages. They 'crackled' during baking, hence the name. These Fine English Water Crackers are true to tradition and are made from 100% English flour and English water and are flame toasted to produce a cracker that is ultra-crisp, with a dark,'nutty' taste.
